Meghan McCain Blames ‘Hostility’ From Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar for ‘View’ Exit

Meghan McCain is opening up about her life in a new audio memoir, which directly blames Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar for her exit from “The View.”

Fox News got an exclusive first listen to the audiobook, “Bad Republican,” and reported Tuesday that in it, McCain says the two co-hosts displayed a “toxic, direct and purposeful hostility” toward her, growing “meaner and less forgiving” as former president Donald Trump’s administration went on, “as if I had become an avatar for everything they hated about the president.”

She added that their behavior was compounded by the fact that they’d seen, firsthand, how Trump attacked McCain and her family, notably going after late Sen. John McCain while he was alive and after his death.

McCain said Goldberg displayed “open disdain” for her, which was not good for her job: “Once she turns on you, it can create unfathomable tension at the table.”

The conservative commentator pointed to specific moments she felt embarrassed or put down on the show, including the moment in January when Behar told her she had not missed her at all while she was on maternity leave. McCain said she felt like she’d been “slapped,” per Fox News, and cried during the next commercial break. When the show ended, she cried again and threw up, then decided “this sh– isn’t worth it.”

She left the show in August and has since become a columnist for the Daily Mail Online. A representative for “The View” did not immediately return a request for comment. Read Fox News’ full exclusive on her audio memoir here.
