Meghan Markle Is Reportedly Threatening to Sue Over the Emotional Letter That She Wrote Her Father

From Cosmopolitan

  • Meghan Markle is reportedly threatening to sue the Mail on Sunday for publishing a private letter that she wrote to her father.

  • In the letter Meghan asked her father to stop lying to the press.

  • Royal have previously taken similar action against the outlet.

Meghan Markle might have just had a fabulous baby shower in New York, but it looks like she hasn't forgotten-or forgiven-her father for sharing the emotional letter she wrote to him with the world earlier this month.

ICYMI, in the letter Meghan writes that Thomas' actions "have broken [her] heart into a million pieces," and that she will "never understand" why he's chosen to lie to the press instead of reaching out to her-which she says he hasn't done, even though she "begged" him to accept her help.

Thomas and Meghan have had an, er, tumultuous relationship since she became a royal, but it looks Thomas sharing her letter might have been the last straw for Meg. The Guardian is reporting that Meghan "has threatened the Mail on Sunday with legal action under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act for publishing a private letter she sent to her father."

Apparently, "Representatives of the duchess...have been in touch with the newspaper after its decision earlier this month to publish the handwritten message sent to Thomas Markle."

And while neither Kensington Palace nor Mail on Sunday have commented, this type of legal action has been pursued by royals before-back in 2005, Prince Charles sued the Mail on Sunday for publishing an extract from his journal.

However, all of this likely won't inspire Thomas to keep his mouth shut about his daughter...let's not forget that he's currently planning to release a book all about her childhood. Sigh.
