Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Date Nights Sound a Lot Like Ours

Royal expert Katie Nicholl gives an inside look at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's relationship in an excerpt of her new book.

In the weeks leading up to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding on May 19 (and, let's be real, well after the big day) we're here for pretty much any details we can learn about the two lovebirds. Now, intel from a royal expert proves that despite being royal, at the end of the day, the couple are truly just like us—complete with a night in involving a Netflix binge of The Crown.

In an excerpt from Harry: Life, Loss, and Love that was published by the New York Post on Saturday, royal expert and author Katie Nicholl gives a detailed look at Meghan and Harry's relationship.

Our major takeaway? According to Nicholl, the two might be out and about for royal engagements and appointments during the day, but come evening and they’re homebodies who enjoy time in their Nottingham Cottage, one of the smallest buildings on Kensington Palace grounds. (Meghan's even put her own touch on the decor, which includes Le Labo's gloriously scented Santal 26 candles.)

“An accomplished cook, Meghan loved to make extravagant dinners for Harry, and they enjoyed staying in and eating her delicious homemade meals and watching films and TV shows like The Crown on Netflix,” Nicholl writes. That makes Prince Harry the third member of the royal family to enjoy the autobiographical series — his first cousin Princess Eugenie and the show’s subject Queen Elizabeth II are also rumored to be fans.

Per Nicholl, Prince Harry supposedly knew Markle was the woman he was going to marry at his friend Tom Inskip’s wedding in Montego Bay, Jamaica: “At one point he was dancing so enthusiastically to a Michael Jackson song with Meghan that he accidentally crashed into a waiter and sent a tray of drinks flying,” Nichols wrote. “At the end of the night there was a slow dance, and after Harry escorted Meghan onto the dance floor for a final twirl.”

So next time you feel a little lame for staying in, just remember that you're not alone—Harry and Meghan just might be curling up with a rerun of New Girl on the other side of the pond.
