Megan McKenna has said she doesn’t know what she was thinking by using lip fillers and that she had “a bit of body dysmorphia”.

The TOWIE star previously had the treatment to make her lips look plumper and also admits to enhancing her pout in social media snaps.

But she said she’s now “seen the light” and thinks lip fillers are “dangerous”.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, McKenna also said it’s important for people to embrace what they have, and that they need to remember that Instagram is “a big lie”.

Asked by presenter Ben Shephard if making some changes had altered the way people saw her, McKenna said: “Yes - I look back and I do look at myself and I think, 'What was I even thinking?’

"But I got myself into this little bubble, I had a bit of body dysmorphia.

"I just think you’ve just got to accept the way you look and I do think it’s made people look at me in a different light now.”

The 28-year-old went on: “I don’t really agree with the whole lip filler now either, I just feel like it can be dangerous.

“And I think people need to just love the way they are. Instagram is kind of a big lie at the end of the day.

"People need to remember that people edit their pictures, they change the way they want to look. I think you need to just be yourself.”

McKenna said she used to use editing apps to make her lips look even bigger in photos but said when people met her, they often said she looked better in person.

“And I would think, 'Why am I doing this?' It’s crazy, I just need to like the way I am in photos," she said. "It’s been a learning curve, but thank God I’ve seen the light!"

The NHS says that body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), or body dysmorphia, is "a mental health condition where a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance. These flaws are often unnoticeable to others".
