Meet The Oscars Accountant Who’s A Matt Damon Doppelgänger

Hang on… how can Matt Damon be in the audience and backstage at the Oscars at the same time?

Is this some kind of magical, Hollywood-based special effects trickery?

As it turns out, it is not.

Former NFL star turned ABC ‘Good Morning America’ presenter Michael Strahan was testing out the general heftiness of the statues themselves during last night’s Oscars coverage, and got chatting to Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan, the certified public accountants from PricewaterhouseCoopers who count the Oscar ballots.

Things quickly got weird, of course, when Mr Cullinan’s likeness to the Oscar nominee became the elephant in the room.

After bringing the likeness up, Cullinan acknowledged that this wasn’t the first time he’d been told this.

“I have heard that for a number of years,” he replied.

Indeed he has. Last year, host Neil Patrick Harris called him onto the stage to make a point of the likeness.

Weirder still, Cullinan later tweeted a picture of himself with his double Damon on the red carpet.

And here he is nestled in behind Leonardo DiCaprio from last night too…

Speaking to the Journal of Accountancy about his vital role in the Oscars, he said: “It’s kind of surreal.

“You go from doing your normal day job, to doing this on a Sunday.”
