Mayor of Del Rio Addresses Migrant Build-Up at Mexico Border

The mayor of Del Rio, Texas, said there were more than 10,000 people gathered at the Mexico border beneath the Del Rio International Bridge on September 16.

Against the backdrop of the scenes at the bridge, mayor Bruno Lozano claimed that the people were predominantly migrants from Haiti. He also stated that, in addition to those waiting under the bridge, there are approximately 2,000-3,000 in detention with border patrol services.

Lozano said he believed that there was potential for a terrorist attack and the spread of the COVID-19 virus, referring to the situation as “the worst-case scenario of worst-case scenarios.”
