Matt Damon Only Has A Tiny Amount of Dialogue In Jason Bourne

It can’t have been very hard for Matt Damon to memorise his lines for ‘Jason Bourne’ as it’s been revealed that his character only has 25 lines of dialogue in the entire film.

Speaking to the Guardian, director Paul Greengrass let slip his leading man’s minimal amount of dialogue, promising that Damon more than makes up for his lack of talking with a bruising physical performance.

“I think what makes a Bourne movie is the violence and the set pieces,” says Greengrass, “but there’s a tremendous amount of emotionality in the character.”

The fifth film in the franchise sees Bourne free from his former ties to the CIA but unwilling to move on emotionally, finding solace in the murky underground world of bare-knuckle boxing, so his spare approach to communication would certainly make sense.

It’s not the first time a headline character has had to make a big impression with very sparse amount of dialogue though. Earlier this year it was revealed that Henry Cavill’s Superman only had 43 lines in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, while Tom Hardy had just 14 lines in ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’.

Robert Redford’s Golden Globe-nominated performance in ‘All Is Lost’ featured virtually no dialogue, with the shooting script rumoured to only be 30 pages long.

‘Jason Bourne’ is coming to cinemas on 27 July.
