'The Masked Singer' recap: Skunk is scent home in shocking Group A Finals elimination

Spoiler alert! The following contains details from the Dec. 1 episode of "The Masked Singer," including the identity of the unmasked celebrity.

Fans of the Skunk will think the results of Wednesday's "Masked Singer" elimination stink.

The two contestants remaining in Group A, Skunk and Bull, went head-to-head in this week's singing competition to fight for a spot in the final. Next week, the last of Group B, Banana Split and Queen of Hearts, will battle for the second slot in the season finale to air on Dec. 15.

Skunk and Bull performed solo on Wednesday, as well as with professional singers for the competition's first duets.

Bull performed Paula Abdul's "Straight Up" on his own, and was later joined by singer Jesse McCartney (a runner-up on Season 3, who competed as Turtle). The pair sang The Script's "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)."

Skunk, for her solo, delivered a soulful rendition of Aretha Franklin's "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)." Then she and singer Michael Bolton rocked the studio with "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.

Even though Skunk delivered two stellar performances, she was knocked out of the competition, clearing the way for Bull to charge toward the final.

With Skunk's elimination, the panel's first impressions and final guesses were revealed.

Ken Jeong traded his guess of Anita Baker for Mary J. Blige. Jenny McCarthy initially thought of two artists: Gloria Gaynor and Roberta Flack. But she bet on Blige instead. Nicole Scherzinger also lost faith in her first guesses: singers Deborah Cox, Fantasia and Blige. She switched it up and landed on Faith Evans, which was also Thicke's first impression guess. Thicke stuck to his first hunch.

Who was eliminated and under the Skunk costume on 'Masked Singer'?

Scherzinger and Thicke were both right. The legendary singer Evans was beneath the Skunk costume.

"This is a lot of work, however, it was so much fun," Evans said.

Now that Skunk packed her bags, only three masked contestants remain.

Gold Derby, awards predictor and entertainment news outlet, is confident Bull is multi-hyphenate YouTube personality Todrick Hall. A theory Bustle and Cosmopolitan are also cosigning. Gold Derby also believes singer Jewel is beneath the Queen of Hearts costume and that Banana Split could be husband/wife duo David Foster and Katharine McPhee, which some Twitter investigators agree with.

Luckily the contestants' identities and this season's winner will all be revealed in the upcoming weeks.
