The Masked Singer: Who is Bush Baby?

Series two of The Masked Singer UK is heading into its fifth week, with viewers at home scratching their heads as they try and figure out who Bush Baby is.

Bush Baby has performed twice so far, taking on “Delilah” by Tom Jones in week two and then Elvis Presley’s “A Little Less Conversation” in week four.

Viewers have been left puzzled by the contestant’s identity – in particular as he speaks with a presumably fake Australian accent – but there are a few front runners.

One of the names in the mix is Matt Lucas, with fans believing that a number of clues are pointing to the Little Britain comedian.

One such clue is Bush Baby’s outfit, a onesie that fans think is similar to the one worn by Lucas on Shooting Stars.

Bush Baby has also made several references to baking, which makes sense as Lucas now co-hosts The Great British Bake Off.

However, viewers are not unanimous on Bush Baby’s identity, with some fans speculating that Brian Conley is behind the costume.

Bush Baby has made references to doing magic and being a “trickster”, something the actor did on The Brian Conley Show.

Fans suspect that the Australian accent is a nod to his time on I’m a Celebrity, while his comment that The Masked Singer isn’t his first competition could be a reference to either his stint in the jungle or on Strictly.

Interestingly, both Lucas and Conley have backgrounds in musical theatre as well as comedy, with Lucas playing Thénardier in Les Misérables while Conley has recently appeared in 9 to 5 among many other productions.

Lucas is the bookies’ favourite to be unmasked as Bush Baby according to Ladbrokes, with odds of 4/5. Conley is in second place at 3/1.

Other names on the list are John Thompson (4/1), Joe Swash (4/1) and Matt Smith (8/1).

The Masked Singer returns Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
