Marvel Unveils 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Comic Art

You’ve seen the movie, now read the comic book. On Friday, Marvel revealed the initial cover and variants for its upcoming adaptation of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first installment in the five-issue series, written by Chuck Wendig (author of Star Wars: Aftermath) and illustrated by Luke Ross, will arrive in stores and digital services on June 22.

The comic art and variants put a new, graphical spin on the familiar movie images.

Marvel has been cranking out various Star Wars titles since reacquiring the license from Disney cohort Lucasfilm. In addition to The Force Awakens, the publisher will roll out the limited-edition Han Solo series next month.

Columbia's embattled president came under renewed pressure on Friday as a university oversight committee met to address her attempt two weeks ago to clamp down on protests that have roiled the Ivy League school and spread across the country and aboard. President Nemat Minouche Shafik faced an outcry from many students, faculty and outside observers for summoning New York police to campus on April 18 to dismantle an encampment of tents set up by protesters against Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza. Police arrested more than 100 people that day and removed the tents from the main lawn of the school's Manhattan campus, but the protesters quickly returned and set up the encampment again, narrowing Columbia's options on shutting down the protest.

The U.S. Labor Department on Friday corrected productivity data from 2019 through 2023 after a computation error in off-the-clock hours worked ratios biased downward the labor hours levels underlying the productivity and costs data published last month.
