The long-awaited Fantastic Four movie is undergoing yet another change behind the scenes.
Friedman, a veteran of the sci-fi genre, is possibly best known for creating and developing Snowpiercer, the TV adaptation of Bong Joon-ho's modern classic.
Shakman revealed in February that filming was set to begin early next year, after he's finished on his Godzilla-related project for Apple TV+, which has a February 2025 release date.
Casting rumours surrounding the titular group of heroes has been heating up more than the Human Torch recently, with You's Penn Badgley and Killing Eve's Jodie Comer linked to the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, respectively.
Both have responded to the rumours in the past few months, with Badgley saying, "Neither confirm nor deny. I don't know what to say about that."
Comer said she had become familiar with the characters over the past year, implying that she had, at least, been involved in the audition process.
Meanwhile, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton has stated that he'd love to do it, but he hasn't received a call yet.
"It would be super fun, and obviously, the director, Matt Shakman, is a very close friend and an absolutely incredible director, so it'd be super fun to work with him again," he explained.
