From Good Housekeeping

  • On May 21, news broke that Kelly Ripa and her family are quarantining in the Caribbean instead of New York City.

  • Shortly after, Kelly’s husband Mark Consuelos posted an Instagram congratulating their son Michael on his graduation.

  • Live With Kelly and Ryan viewers have shared their thoughts about the lie.

Live With Kelly and Ryan viewers are not happy with Kelly Ripa. But her husband of 14 years, Mark Consuelos, isn’t letting them have the last word.

On Thursday, May 21, news broke that the couple is quarantining in the Caribbean instead of New York City like fans were led to believe. Despite the negative backlash, Mark didn’t miss the opportunity to congratulate their eldest son, Michael, who graduated from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts that same day. And the Riverdale star’s words couldn’t have been more fitting.

“#Happy virtual graduation MJC. We are so proud of you,” he wrote on Instagram. “#quarentinegraduation2020 we know it’s not what we all expected but we are so grateful to be all together on what I know must seem like the longest family trip ever…”

Following his lead, Kelly also celebrated the milestone with her own Instagram post. “And just like that you graduated college,” she captioned a photo collection. “MJC, the joy and pride you have brought our family is indescribable. I love you with all my heart ♥️💜♥️💜♥️💜♥️.”

Although there wasn’t a lack of congratulatory comments, the quarantine graduation party was slightly overshadowed by the family’s reality. Since the ongoing coronavirus pandemic began, Live With Kelly and Ryan viewers watched Kelly and Ryan Seacrest continue recording the daytime TV show, presumably from opposite coasts of the U.S. That is until the mother of three opened up about the truth in a virtual town hall.

"We had planned a trip for our family, and it was supposed to be our entire family of course," Kelly said, according to People. "And we arrive and three days later, the entire world changed, really. I mean, everything shut down; the government shut down; our country shut down. I hate to use the word stuck, but we were. We decided to stay where we were."

Now, people are left wondering how much longer their family trip will last.
