Russian forces were fighting to achieve one of their strategic objectives in Ukraine on Monday as Moscow-backed separatists said they were pushing into Lysychansk, the last major city still held by Ukrainian troops in eastern Luhansk province. Lysychansk is the new focus of the war after its twin city of Sievierodonetsk fell on Saturday, in a victory for Moscow's campaign to seize the eastern provinces of Luhansk and Donetsk on behalf of pro-Russian separatists.
China's central bank made the biggest daily cash injection into the banking system via open market operations in nearly three months on Monday, to ease pressure from rising cash demand towards the end of the first half of the year. The People's Bank of China (PBOC) injected 100 billion yuan ($14.95 billion) worth of seven-day reverse repos, the biggest daily injection via the liquidity tool since March 31. The central bank said the operation was to keep "half year-end liquidity stable," according to an online statement.

The UK's communications regulator is calling on young people to help protect each other by reporting harmful content online. Ofcom says two-thirds of youngsters aged between 13 and 17 see harmful content online but only 16% report it. As it waits for the government's Online Safety Bill to go through parliament, it has called on young people to help tackle online harms themselves.
