Mansfield ISD to hold town hall discussion on safety and security of district schools

Mansfield ISD will hold a town hall on Oct. 21 to discuss safety and security with school district community members.

The announcement comes over a week after the Oct. 6 shooting at Timberview High School and two days after the school district implemented heightened security measures on its campuses.

A panel of speakers, ranging from Superintendent Kimberley Cantu to Arlington Police Department Chief Alexander Jones, will be at the meeting, according to a district email sent Friday afternoon.

The town hall will be held at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts, at 1110 W. Debbie Lane, at 6 p.m. Free shuttles to the center will be available at Lake Ridge High School, Legacy High School, Mansfield High School, Summit High School and Timberview High School. The shuttles will leave at 5:20 p.m. from each location.

Attendees will have a chance to ask questions or share comments with the panel after a discussion on various safety topics, the district said.

Community members interested in serving on the district’s school safety committee can fill out a form on Mansfield ISD’s website.
