Police in a city east of Toronto say a man is in critical condition after he was stabbed multiple times while he was pushing his granddaughter in a stroller Tuesday morning.
Durham Regional Police Service say the seemingly random attack happened around 10:45 a.m. in a residential area in northern Oshawa, near Durham College and the child was not injured.
Duty Insp. Chris Ludlow says a 20-year-old suspect was arrested shortly afterwards at a nearby home, with the help of multiple witnesses and surveillance video.
He has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
Ludlow says the suspect is known to police and officers are investigating the motive for the attack.
