Man seriously injured and a child is flown to hospital after McHenry Avenue crash
A man suffered major injuries and a child was airlifted to a hospital following a crash Friday at McHenry and Claratina avenues.
The man was driving a 1949 Dodge Coupe north on McHenry about 11 a.m. when it collided with a Honda Civic going south on McHenry, making an eastbound turn onto Claratina, Modesto police Lt. Martha Delgado said.
The 51-year-old driver of the Dodge remained in serious condition as of Saturday.
The woman driving the Honda and her 6-year-old child suffered minor injuries. The child was flown to a children’s hospital out of the area as a precaution, according to the Modesto Fire Department.
There was a third vehicle involved that also was turning east onto Claratina but Delgado did not know where it was in relation to the Civic or to what extent it was involved. No one was injured in that vehicle.
The Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and the intersection was closed for four hours while it investigated.
Delgado said it remains under investigation who had the red light.
Names of the involved parties were not released.
