Man Dies At Conjuring 2 Screening; Body Goes Missing

In a spooky case of horror movies merging with reality, a man’s body has gone missing after dying during a screening of James Wan’s ‘The Conjuring 2′.

According to The Times of India, during a showing of Wan’s horror sequel at the Sri Balasubramaniar Cinema in Tiruvannamalai, in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, a 65-year-old man passed away after suffering from chest pains and passing out during the horror movie’s climax.

After being rushed to a nearby hospital, the man was declared dead, however when medics gave the go-ahead for the body to be taken to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem, the deceased man had disappeared, along with the person in charge of the body.

The news of the vanishing corpse sent social media sceptics into a frenzy over the supernatural occurrence believed to have happened - it subsequently got an alleged video circulating of a woman possessed during a screening of the movie, quickly debunked by the Telegraph as footage from 2013. It sparked a number of other highly questionable claims that, surprise-surprise, went viral in the wake of a social media-led paranormal panic.

This Facebook user claimed to have ‘discovered’ a cross on his hotel mirror after watching the film…

There’s likely a logical, non-supernatural explanation that’ll emerge over the whereabouts of the body and indeed the person charged with transporting it, but it goes to show that people are more than willing to buy into unexplained paranormal phenomenon.

But the way people are latching onto the widespread panic regarding this unsettling tale, they should consider aptly hashtagging it #TheCon, as far as the validity of these claims go.
