Man City XI vs Tottenham: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League today

John Stones does not start for Manchester City against Tottenham in the Premier League today.

The defender was only fit for the bench in the Champions League win over RB Leipzig after an injury and the manager confirmed he is doing "much better" ahead of the weekend, but Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji are preferred.

Mateo Kovacic is also back in the mix but Matheus Nunes misses out as he nears the end of his comeback from a knock.

Guardiola rotated somewhat for the comeback win over Leipzig on Tuesday, having not made a substitution during the draw with Liverpool last weekend.

With the Premier League title race as tight as it has been in years, the City boss will likely go back to the tried and tested when Spurs come to town this weekend.

As such, Ederson starts in place of Stefan Ortega in goal and City’s only long-term absence continues to be Kevin De Bruyne as he recovers from hamstring surgery.

Guardiola’s decision on the left wing will be fascinating. Jack Grealish was a key part of the treble-winning side of last season and perhaps offers more in the way of defensive support but Jeremy Doku has starred since his move from Rennes and again gets the nod.

As ever, Erling Haaland leads the line as he chases more goal records in the Premier League.
