Man accused of stabbing dad fatally shot by police after charging at them, Utah cops say

A 41-year-old man is accused of stabbing his father before he was fatally shot by police in Utah, police said.

Police received a domestic violence report on Sunday, Nov. 28 in Orem, Utah, Orem Police Department said in a news release.

Orem is about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City.

The caller said a man had stabbed his father, police said.

When officers and medical responders arrived at the home, they found the 68-year-old father with a cut to his neck and that the son had left the scene, police said.

Officers later found him near the home and tried to arrest him, but he would not comply with authorities, according to the release.

While holding weapons in both of his hands, he charged at officers, police said. It’s unclear what the weapons were.

Police said they shot the man, and he later died at the scene.

His father was transported to a hospital, where his condition is not known.
