‘Mahomes’ house’: Chiefs players, fans react to AFC Championship win, Super Bowl berth

Oh, the Kansas City Chiefs certainly heard the chirping from the Cincinnati Bengals before Sunday’s AFC Championship Game, which the Chiefs won 23-20 to advance to the Super Bowl.

Chris Jones played arguably the best playoff game of his career, posting two sacks, Marquez Valdes-Scantling made several big catches and a one-legged Patrick Mahomes scrambled for a first down and drew a late-hit flag to get the Chiefs into field-goal range for the game-winner by Harrison Butker.

There were several other massive plays in Sunday’s game, between Frank Clark’s sack-and-a-half on the first two drives and massive interceptions from Jaylen Watson and Joshua Williams ... and on and on.

Chiefs fans, of course, erupted in bliss when the game went final and Kansas City was off to yet another Super Bowl. Social media was ablaze shortly afterward with plenty of reaction from the win.

And then there was the action on the field. Likely no one was having more fun than Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who interrupted Patrick Mahomes’ postgame interview to proclaim: “Burrowhead my ass! Woo! It’s Mahomes’ house!”

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas also quickly joined in on the fun.

And speaking of mayoral office holders, after the mayor of Cincinnati recorded a video poking fun at the Chiefs — and joking that Bengals QB Joe Burrow should take a paternity test to see if he was Patrick Mahomes’ father — Kelce had a fairly vocal response.

Even more amusing? Travis Kelce played his college ball at Cincinnati.

Here’s a taste of some of the other reaction to the Chiefs advancing to the Super Bowl, from players, fans and media...
