The stock market has finally started to hit some resistance after a strong start to 2023. On Tuesday, the Nasdaq rose about half a percent as of 12:45 p.m. ET. Skyworks Solutions (NASDAQ: SWKS) and Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ: TTWO) have both come a long way since their modest beginnings, and investors were happy to see both companies post financial results that signaled their ability to thrive even in tough times for the broader economy.
Airbus posted weaker than expected first-quarter operating profit and cashflow partly after hiring more staff to prepare for rising demand, but reaffirmed its financial goals for 2024 after a nervous start to the year on industrial costs. Airbus reported 577 million euros ($618.37 million) in adjusted operating profit, down 25% on the year, revenue of 12.83 billion euros and a free cash outflow of 1.8 billion euros. "Geopolitical and supply chain tensions continue," Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said in a results statement, adding the operating environment "shows no sign of improvement".

National Hockey League (NHL) and its digital broadcast rights owner Rogers Communications on Thursday signed a deal to stream the hockey tournament's next two seasons exclusively on Amazon.com's Prime Video for Canadian audiences. Amazon Prime subscribers in Canada will be able to access the broadcasts along with match analyses and coverage, according to a joint statement by Rogers and the NHL. Financial details of the two-year deal were not disclosed.

TikTok owner ByteDance would prefer shutting down its loss-making app rather than sell it if the Chinese company exhausts all legal options to fight legislation to ban the platform from app stores in the U.S., four sources said. The algorithms TikTok relies on for its operations are deemed core to ByteDance overall operations, which would make a sale of the app with algorithms highly unlikely, said the sources close to the parent. TikTok accounts for a small share of ByteDance's total revenues and daily active users, so the parent would rather have the app shut down in the U.S. in a worst case scenario than sell it to a potential American buyer, they said.
