Dan Loeb has changed his tune on ESPN. In August, the activist investor wrote a letter urging Walt Disney (NYSE: DIS) CEO Bob Chapek to spin off the sports media company. But after Chapek presented at Disney's annual D23 conference and talked to reporters about ESPN and the future of Disney, Loeb's now convinced ESPN is worth more within Disney.
In January the 44-year-old announced he would be stepping down this summer.
Authorities on Wednesday confirmed that a body found at the home of a former Washington state police officer who killed his ex-wife before fleeing to Oregon, where he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was that of a 17-year-old girl with whom he had a baby. Elias Huizar, 39, a former police officer in Yakima, went on the run Monday afternoon after killing two people, including his ex-wife, Amber Rodriguez, 31, whom he shot eight times outside a West Richland elementary school in front of their 9-year-old son and other witnesses, police said. Rodriguez had recently obtained a protection order against Huizar.
LATAM Airlines said on Wednesday that it was no longer seeking to acquire Boeing B737 planes either from bankrupt Brazilian carrier Gol or other sources, opting to look for alternative narrowbody aircraft after talks failed. The two airlines clashed shortly after Gol filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S. in January, with Gol accusing LATAM of trying to poach its planes and pilots. LATAM then offered to acquire any B737s that Gol no longer wished to operate after its bankruptcy restructuring.

Technology firm Cisco Systems said that hackers have subverted some of its digital security devices to break in to government networks globally. In a blog post published on Wednesday, the company said its Adaptive Security Appliances - pieces of equipment that roll several different digital defense functions into one - had previously unknown vulnerabilities that had been exploited by a group of hackers they called "UAT4356."
