Yahoo Movies M Night Shyamalan's Old dominates US weekend box office
M Night Shyamalan's Old has dominated the weekend box office in the US.
Starring Vicky Krieps, Gael García Bernal and Alex Wolff, the seemingly supernatural thriller follows a family in crisis after they and other holidaymakers end up trapped on a mysterious beach and begin to age rapidly.
No spoilers here, but it seems the film and its mind-melting ending intrigued plenty of audiences following its release as Old took $16.5 million in its opening weekend to top the US box office (via Cinema Blend).

Old's success saw it nudge out another new entry in the form of Snake Eyes: GI Joe Origins, which took $13.35 million, as well as Scarlett Johansson's recent Marvel venture Black Widow, which brought in $11.6 million.
Despite topping the US box office last weekend, Space Jam: A New Legacy
finished in fourth place this week, pulling in $9.56 million and potentially living up to its legacy of sub-par reviews.
Old's feat is also one of note because it marks the first time M Night Shyamalan has topped the US box office with three consecutive releases.
The movie follows Unbreakable sequels Split in 2017 and Glass in 2019 which both also topped the charts.

Previously, Shyamalan topped the US box office twice in a row with Signs in 2002 and The Village in 2004.
His Apple TV+ collaboration Servant is currently filming its third season.
Old is in cinemas now.
