The Luxury Brands Worn by Kim Kardashian and Priyanka Chopra Are Now More Affordable at Zara

Once, a couple years ago, before I worked in fashion, I slept outside of an H&M store in downtown Brooklyn to get a $250 Kenzo x H&M jacket. The weather was bad; the sidewalk was dirty; and there were already 20 people in line when I showed up, 24 hours before the collection dropped. Somehow, I truly regret nothing. H&M’s designer collaborations are famous for causing a frenzy and selling out instantly, and I still wear that jacket to this day. Now, Zara has its own take on the popular collab concept, except with four under-the-radar designers instead of household names.

Zara just released an eco-friendly collection featuring a handful of exclusive, limited-edition pieces by four CFDA Vogue Fashion fund finalists. The brands, Barragán, Private Policy, Abasi Rosborough, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas, are relatively under-the-radar, so they might not sound familiar now despite already being worn by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Billie Ellish, and Priyanka Chopra.

The designers are four rising stars in the industry and naturally, popular pieces from their collections typically retail for hundreds or thousands. Zara’s CFDA collection, though, starts at $199 and only goes up to $329. Since time barely even exists these days, it’s only a matter of months before they’re everywhere and the opportunity to score one of their pieces — at a price like this — will be impossible. Best of all, you don’t need to sleep on the floor on a dirty New York City sidewalk to get any of them.

This collection is also a chance to finally score a piece from Zara that not everyone owns. While the retailer has a reputation of making affordable versions of any and every trend, it also has a reputation for making pieces everyone owns. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, there’s also a special joy in owning something that you haven’t already seen multiple times on your Instagram feed. Chances are you have not come across a tie-dye dress by Alejandra Alonso Rojas or a patchwork trench coat by Barragán. And if on the very off-chance you have, there’s no way they were well under $400.

So while I’ll never regret waiting in line to get that Kenzo x H&M coat, I’d gladly not repeat the circumstances. Instead, you can find me adding one of every single piece from Zara’s CFDA/Vogue collection to my cart. And while that may seem like a splurge, I’m just telling myself this entire collection is basically more affordable than a single piece from any of these brands regularly. I can definitely sleep easy (and in the comfort of my own bed) knowing that.
