LoveShackFancy RTW Spring 2023

For her spring collection event, LoveShackFancy’s Rebecca Hessel Cohen staged a girly party in the garden of the uptown Cooper Hewitt Museum, complete with rosé wine bar, Mister Softee ice cream truck, photo booth, custom cherub fountains and models swaying to the DJ’s pop tunes. There were so many cutesy, pastel LoveShackFancy looks in the space, a guest could easily be mistaken for one of the season’s models – which was really just a testament to the brand’s cult-like following and megawatt business.

“We’re using our backdrop of New York City. Our Upper East Side girls are our biggest source of inspiration… This is where I’m from, I grew up here, so it’s only appropriate,” Hessel Cohen said. “We want our girls to feel fun, urban and cool, which is why we wanted them to have a party.”

Quote of note: “We went through all of our favorite decades and reimagined them: 1800s, 1920s, the ‘90s – we have insane bias-cut slip dresses with beautiful lace trims and tulle, our little ‘20s flapper girl moments and nods to ‘90s with butterfly [accents]. There’s also our more simple, beautiful, elegant style. We like to take our girl from work to cocktails to party – she’s just out and about, so we’re giving her so many party looks now.”

The takeaway: The collection continued to exude the brand’s signature romanticism with optimism.
