Lovecraft Country's Wunmi Mosaku lands role in new movie Dreyana Grooms
Lovecraft Country star Wunmi Mosaku has landed herself a leading role in a brand new film, one that's being presented at International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Titled Dreyana Grooms, the film focuses on the real-life person of the same name, who actually co-wrote the piece with Porto director Gabe Klinger.
As a 16-year-old teenager, Dreyana was implicated in a fatal shooting in Chicago back in 2014. The event changed her life forever, going from hanging out with gangs to turning things around, something that the film will explore.

In a statement (via Variety), Klinger said: "I’m more than thrilled to have Wunmi join a growing team of artistic collaborators committed to telling this real-life story with the nuance and sense of timely conviction that it deserves.
"The idea from the very beginning was not to create a documentary but a realistic narrative feature with professional actors."
The film will begin production in July in Chicago. An outlet for its release hasn't been announced yet, but that might change after the IFFR.
For her role as Ruby Baptiste, Mosaku has been nominated for a Critics' Choice Award and also appeared in Netflix's His House, and has been nominated for a British Independent Film Award. Going back a few years, while she won a BAFTA for Damilola, Our Loved Boy.
