Welcome to his house: Watch Miami rapper Flo Rida get key to the city on 125th birthday

Wednesday was a big night for the Magic City, Miami’s 125th birthday. So it was only fitting that local rapper Flo Rida got some love, too.

Mayor Francis Suarez presented the Carol City native with a key to the city during a bash on Flagler Street in downtown Miami to celebrate the city’s big day.

Hosted by the Miami Downtown Development Authority, Flagler Street went into full party mode, with politicians, rappers, singers and residents coming together for an evening of live music, food and an art display on the façade of the Miami-Dade County Courthouse.

Miami, you’re looking different on your 125th birthday. Here’s a peek at then and now

The 41-year-old rap star, born Tramar Lacel Dillard, was ever grateful. On his Instagram, Flo posed with the symbolic key.

“To GOD be the glory THE KEY TO THE CITY!!! All I can say is ‘Wow’ and to receive it on the 125th anniversary of Miami, I couldn’t ask for a better setup,” said the “Low” singer’s caption. “I’m forever in debt to my city, I love you MIAMI. Thank you again to everyone, time to open more doors with this key.”

The post ended with the hashtag, #myhouse for his 2015 hit “Welcome to My House.”

Flo Rida later made his way to the official after party at E11EVEN ultraclub nearby.

Outfitted in diamond-encrusted sunglasses and a huge smile, the entertainer spoke about what Miami means to him, saying that the Magic City is his heart and made him who he is today. The Grammy nominee then made his way to the stage for a medley of his classics including “Wild Ones” and “Low,” holding a bottle of E11EVEN Vodka in hand (we heard Flo shared, though, pouring some of the alcoholic beverage into partygoers’ mouths).
