Long Lines for Gas in Sarasota County After Hurricane Ian

Floridians lined up for gas in Sarasota County on October 1, after Hurricane Ian knocked out power across the state, leaving many residents reliant on generators.

Gov Ron DeSantis said crews were responding to 840,000 reported power outages on October 2, having already restored power to more than 1.8 million accounts across the state.

More than 1.4 million gallons of fuels had been mobilized to central and southwest Florida, however DeSantis said some gas stations did not have working generators to pump the gas, leading to delays and supply issues. Credit: Michael Kaplan via Storyful
