Suspect in Tupac Shakur killing is a no-show at a Nevada hearing on trial readiness
The only suspect ever charged in the killing of Tupac Shakur did not appear in court Tuesday for a hearing on whether his defense team is prepared to go to trial. Duane “Keffe D” Davis also did not attend a scheduled hearing in another case, in which he is accused of fighting with another man at the Clark County Detention Center in late December. A spokesperson for Davis' attorney declined to say why he did not attend either hearing.

Scrim, a 17-pound mutt who has become a Louisiana folk hero, first escaped from his adopted family in April and roamed the city for months until he was cornered and brought back home. During his months on the lam, Scrim survived a hurricane and freezing blizzard conditions. The renowned fugitive was ultimately captured in a cat trap, said Michelle Cheramie, the owner of animal rescue nonprofit Zeus' Rescues who led the mission to find Scrim.

A teenager who died in a Los Angeles-area mansion party shooting that left six others injured was from Sacramento, officials said Tuesday. At around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a gunman opened fire in the Woodland Hills home along Winnetka Avenue north of U.S. Highway 101, following an argument, NBCLA reported. The person shot multiple rounds into the air before firing into the crowd of hundreds, killing a 16-year-old boy and hitting six others. The Los Angeles Medical Examiner identified the boy as 16-year-old Sah'Dell Roberts. A spokesperson from the Twin Rivers Unified School District told KCRA 3 that he was a student at Highland High School.
