Local Mexican food chain opens new Sacramento location with $5 breakfast and $3 tacos
After three months of nonstop painting, landscaping and redecorating, Los Inmortales Taqueria Cocina Mexicana opened the doors to its fourth location in the Sacramento area.
Near the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Street, colorful flags that spell “grand opening” flap in the wind in the parking lot of the newest Mexican restaurant in town. The storefront in Upper Land Park — the former brick-and-mortar of Vietnamese restaurant Pho Ivy II — is decorated with balloons and a banner that reads “now open.”
Inside you’ll find coffee, fresh juice and condiment stations stocked with foods including bananas, pineapple, salsas, onions, lime and pico de gallo.
“Los Inmortales Taqueria is dedicated to ensuring that our customers are served exceptional quality food at a reasonable price,” the small food chain wrote on its website.
The owner wasn’t available for comment.
The vast menu includes a variety of vegetarian and meat tacos, burritos, soups, seafood, tostadas, enchiladas, nachos and quesadillas between $2.95 and $23.75. For roughly $5, you can get two eggs (scrambled or sunny side up) with rice, beans and tortilla. you can add meat for an extra $4.
One of the cheapest items on the menu is a regular soft corn tortilla taco plated with onions, cilantro and salsa. The $23.75 seafood enchilada soup is the most expensive meal on the menu typically made with lime, cilantro, peppers and tomatoes.
There are 24 different meat selections including pork stomach, beef tongue and head, Mexican sausage and chorizo. Black and pinto beans are also available.
The drink list is packed with sodas, smoothies, juices and beer.
Other Los Inmortales Sacramento-area locations are 2598 Alta Arden Expressway, 3131 Fruitridge Road and 6670 Valley Hi Drive.
Pho Ivy II permanently closed its doors over the summer and a single location remains in Elk Grove at 9261 Laguna Springs Drive. The business is known for its variation of pho, a Vietnamese soup typically made with savory broth, rice noodles, herbs, meats and lime.
