Liverpool vs. Real Madrid: 2022 UEFA Champions League final live stream, how to watch, odds, time

Two sides with extensive history in world soccer's premier club competition – Liverpool and Real Madrid – will meet in the UEFA Champions League final in Paris on Saturday.

Real Madrid – which boasts a record 13 UEFA Champions League titles – has reached the final for the first time in four years.

Liverpool is back in the final after winning the tournament three years ago.

It was in Real Madrid's last Champions League final appearance where it knocked off Liverpool to lift the trophy. It was a painful experience for Liverpool's goal-scoring talisman Mohamed Salah. Salah was injured in the first half of the 2018 final in Kyiv, Ukraine, then watched his team lose 3-1 as Real Madrid won a third consecutive Champions League title.

Real Madrid's Karim Benzema has built a strong case to win the Ballon d’Or with his prowess in this Champions League season, during which he scored an astonishing 15 goals in 11 matches (with 10 of those goals coming during the tournament's knockout stages). Benzema was also the leading goal-scorer for the 2021-22 La Liga season with 27 goals.

With a win, Real Madrid can extend its healthy lead for most UEFA Champions League titles over Italian club AC Milan, which has seven. If Liverpool wins, it can vault into a tie with AC Milan for the second-most all-time.

Where is the UEFA Champions League final being played?

The match will be played at Saint-Denis' Stade de France in Paris. The 2022 UEFA Champions League final was initially slated to be held at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, Russia. However, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, UEFA decided to change the host venue to Stade de France, which also has hosted the 1998 World Cup final and will be the venue for track and field events for the 2024 Summer Olympics.

How can I watch the UEFA Champions League final?

The final is set for a 3 p.m. ET start. CBS will air the UEFA Champions League final, with streaming available on Paramount+. The Spanish-language broadcast is available on Univision/TUDN. The match also will be available on fuboTV. A "UEFA Champions League Today" pregame show will air on CBS starting at 1:30 p.m. ET.

STORY: The U.S. House plans to hold separate votes on aid for Israel and Ukraine this week, according to Republican Speaker Mike Johnson on Monday. This comes after months of Republican divisions have delayed aid. But pressure on the GOP to act appears to have ramped up after Iran’s weekend missile and drone attack on Israel. Johnson cited ‘precipitating events around the globe’ when speaking to reporters Monday. “We know that the world is watching us to see how we react. We have terrorists and tyrants and terrible leaders around the world like Putin and Xi and in Iran. And they're watching to see if America will stand up for its allies and in our own interests around the globe. And we will.” Johnson said the House will break down the aid into four bills. Three include aid to Israel, Ukraine, U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific and U.S. national security priorities. The makeup of the fourth was not immediately clear. Johnson says the new House bills will provide roughly the same amount of foreign aid as a Senate one that House Republicans stalled earlier this year, which is roughly $95 billion, but differs by including some aid in the form of a loan. And Johnson expects the vote to come by the end of the week. GOP House Majority Leader Steve Scalise voiced support for the aid, and cited Iran’s recent attack. “If you just look at what we did to help Israel to shoot down the rockets and drones, those were a lot of American assets that were used. So we need to replenish our own supply.” House Speaker Johnson also faces a threat from hard-right Republicans to oust him if he allows Ukraine aid to go ahead. On Monday, Republican hardliner group the House Freedom Caucus released a statement calling for aid to Israel, but not to Ukraine. They rejected any suggestion the recent attack on Israel would ease the path towards more funds to Kyiv. Top House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries also wrote to his caucus on Monday, urging the need to support both Ukraine and Israel. Meanwhile, Ukraine appealed again to its allies on Monday for “extraordinary and bold steps” to boost its air defenses, after Russian attacks on its energy system in recent weeks.
