Liverpool fans take over Paris ahead of Champions League final

Liverpool has come to Paris as fans took over streets in the French capital ahead of tonight's Champions League final.

Thousands of fans have decended on the city ahead of the titanic clash against Real Madrid as the national stadium Stade de France.

Around 60,000 fans have reportedly travelled, many of them without tickets, to soak up the atmosphere.

Supporters have been spotted across the city though local police, relayed through the Merseyside Police, have banned the wearing of club memorabilia across the weekend.

A statement read: " "As of 15.00 on 26.05 until 18.00 on Sunday 29.05 it is prohibited to wear any football club colours in the area of the Champs Elysees. This includes scarves, hats, displaying banners etc. The police can issue a 135 Euro fine."

A huge fan zone in the Cour de Vincennes area, south east of Paris, hosted many during the hours leading up to kick-off.

The Place de la Nation, which features the famous The Triumph of the Republic status, was donned in Liverpool scarfs and flags.

Back on Merseyside, Concert Square was rammed from late morning as Reds fans soaked up the sun and celebrated Liverpool's attempts to win a seventh European Cup. Ranelegh Street and Mathew Street was also a sea of red.
