The It List: ‘The Hills’ sequel returns, Ewan McGregor indulges in excess as ‘Halston’ and more pop culture highlights of the week

The It List is Yahoo’s weekly look at the best in pop culture. Here are our picks for the week of May 10th.

The Hills: New Beginnings Season 2 premieres Wednesday, May 12 at 9 p.m. on MTV. With not a mask in sight, the new episodes were filmed early last year, then halted due to the pandemic, then resumed in the fall.

Halston premieres Friday, May 14 on Netflix. Ewan McGregor stars in the new miniseries from Netflix about the rise and fall of the first American celebrity fashion designer.

The Underground Railroad premieres Friday, May 14 on Amazon Prime Video. The show is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed novel of the same name and imagines an alternate history of sorts, one where American slaves used an actual subterranean railway system to escape plantations.

Season two of The Hills, New Beginnings is bringing back their signature mix of friendship and reality TV conflict. With not a mask in sight, the new episodes were filmed early last year, then halted due to the pandemic, then resumed in the fall. Series mainstays, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, are back, and so is some drama over their growing family.

- Ewan McGregor stars as Halston in the new miniseries from Netflix about the rise and fall of the first American celebrity fashion designer. Despite his huge success, Halston was infamous for his lavish lifestyle and bad behavior, both at work and out on the town. The show takes place in the '70s and includes several scenes at the then mega popular nightclub, Studio 54.

- Academy Award winner Barry Jenkins returns with a new limited series for Amazon Prime, The Underground Railroad.
