Tens of thousand of homes could be without water until the weekend, says Southern Water
Almost 60,000 homes across Hampshire are without water because of a "technical issue" at a Southern Water supply works, the company has said. Homes in Southampton, Romsey, Eastleigh, Totton, and parts of the New Forest have been affected by problems at the Testwood water supply works preventing water from leaving the site. Long queues have been reported at bottle stations which have been set up at the Places Leisure Centre in Eastleigh, Sainsbury's superstore in Southampton and Asda superstore in Totton.

TOKYO (Reuters) -The Bank of Japan kept interest rates unchanged on Thursday but one dissenting board member's proposal to push up borrowing costs showed the bank remains on track to tighten policy early next year. As widely expected, the nine-member BOJ board voted 8-1 to keep its short-term policy rate unchanged at 0.25% in a sign policymakers preferred to tread cautiously amid uncertainty over U.S. president-elect Donald Trump's economic plans. However, dissenting board member Naoki Tamura, a known policy hawk, proposed raising interest rates to 0.5% on the view inflationary risks were building.

SEOUL (Reuters) -South Korea's impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol is willing to present his views himself during legal proceedings related to his short-lived declaration of martial law, a lawyer advising Yoon said on Thursday. Seok Dong-hyeon, a lawyer and long-time friend of Yoon, also told reporters that multiple - seemingly overlapping - investigations involving Yoon should be streamlined. Yoon, who is an ex-prosecutor, shocked the nation on Dec. 3 when he declared martial law in a late night televised address, before backing down hours later after outraged lawmakers rejected his decree.
