Lindsay Lohan has remembered the late Natasha Richardson on what would've been her 58th birthday.

The former child star posted a picture of the pair in a still from the 1998 film The Parent Trap where Richardson played Liz James, the mother of Lohan's twin characters Annie James and Hallie Parker.

"Happy Birthday Angel 🙏 #natasharichardson 💙," the 34-year-old wrote alongside the Instagram snap on 11 May.

The sweet photo showed Liz with her arm around Lohan's character, who was smiling up at her.

Richardson, who was born into the Redgrave acting dynasty, died in 2009 at the age of 45 from an epidural haematoma after hitting her head in a skiing accident.

Richardson had been married to fellow actor Liam Neeson for 14 years at the time of her death and the pair share two sons Micheál, 25, and Daniel, 24.

Micheál has followed his parents into acting and opted to change his last name to Richardson to honour his late mother.

He's previously named The Parent Trap as his favourite performance of his mother's, telling Vanity Fair: “Just based off of who she is and how I remember her, it has to be The Parent Trap.

“That’s more or less what she was like. She was this sweet, amazing mother figure—my best friend."

The cast of the film paid tribute to Richardson last year during a virtual reunion, where Lohan was joined by co-stars including Dennis Quaid and Elaine Hendrix.

At the virtual meet-up, Lohan shared: “Natasha had such an elegance and grace and she was so maternal to me.”
