Oasis star Liam Gallagher started 2021 by attempting to end his long-running feud with brother Noel, telling him he loves him and that this is their year.

The Wonderwall singers split in 2009 and have been at loggerheads for years, and Liam recently said he was "sick of pleading, begging" for the group to reform.

But as 2021 got under way, he reached out to his brother on Twitter.

“HNY Noel love you long time 2021 is our year c’mon you know LG x,” wrote the star.

Noel hasn’t replied to the tweet but many fans have posted messages saying they hope the pair can patch things up.

“We need Oasis back. Too many rubbish bands out there. Make a comeback Oasis!! We are waiting!” said one.

Another suggested Oasis could reform in aid of the NHS amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Imagine getting back together for The NHS it’s be bloody amazing… Let’s make it happen,” the fan posted.

“As life goes on and we get wiser we realise life is too short to continue a war of words. After 2020 and COVID, the loss of life, loss of jobs, the misery this would give people some hope.”

Oasis formed in Manchester in 1991 and had huge hits such as Wonderwall and Don’t Look Back In Anger before going their separate ways after an acrimonious split.

Both brothers have gone on to have successful solo careers, with Liam as the lead singer of Beady Eye and Noel with the band High Flying Birds.

Last year Liam claimed the pair were once offered £100 million to get Oasis back together for a string of shows – but that Noel said no.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, he said: “I know for a fact there’s nothing left on the table. We did have a good crack. We did everything. We didn’t leave anything on the table. Like, nothing.

“When someone offers you 100 million pounds to do a few gigs and that man, you’re going to go, ‘Alright then yeah...’ There was a lot of money knocking about.
