The Fayette County coroner’s office has identified a woman who died after a collision near the University of Kentucky campus Tuesday.
Genevieve Amis, 70, was a passenger in one of two vehicles that crashed at the intersection of Rose and Maxwell streets in Lexington, the coroner’s office said in a news release.
Amis was pronounced dead as a result of multiple blunt force injuries at UK Chandler Hospital at 11:49 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
Two other people were hurt in the crash, one with life-threatening injuries and one with injuries that were not life threatening, Lexington police Sgt. R. Guy Miller said Tuesday night.
The accident was first reported at 11:14 a.m. Tuesday. Police said a light pole was hit but they didn’t know of any outages as a result of the crash. Kentucky Utilities was contacted.
The Lexington Police Department’s Collision Reconstruction Unit was investigating.
The impacted roads were shut down following the accident, but police later said Maxwell Street was back open early Tuesday afternoon.
