Lava Flows From La Palma Volcano Almost One Month on From First Eruption

The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma, which began erupting on September 19, showed no signs of stopping as lava spewed on October 17.

This clip, posted on Twitter by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan), shows lava flowing from the volcano on Sunday night.

As of Sunday, volcanic activity had destroyed at least 1,835 structures and lava flows covered 789.6 hectares (about 3 square miles), the European Union’s Copernicus satellite program said. Credit: INVOLCAN via Storyful
