The Last Kingdom boss gives season 5 filming update

The Last Kingdom season 5 has taken a significant leap forward towards getting to our screens as filming recently wrapped.

The update was provided by director Jon East on Twitter yesterday (June 22) who posted a shot of a clapperboard telling fans: "It's a wrap! TLK5's in the digital can. The last block was a monster, eclipsing in complexity/scale all I've directed on this great show since I joined in 2016.

"The last season is ending in EPIC style! Big thanks to the top team that worked with tireless devotion to make it so."

East's followers arrived in their droves with supportive messages after Netflix's recent announcement that season 5 will the show's last.

One user tweeted back: "Sad for it to end but again so greatful for such fantastic show and crew must be weird for all off you that this is «the end» [sic]".

"Gutted that we are only getting one more season but confident you will end it in style and we will get a satisfying end for team Uhtred," added a second, before someone else wrote: "Fantastic news!! Thank you so much for your hard work and commitment to complete S5. TLK never fails to be exceptional - I am super stoked!"
