Search continues after armed & dangerous man isn’t found at Columbia apartment complex

Officers from several law enforcement agencies searched in Columbia for a man wanted on multiple charges.

There was a large law enforcement presence at the Colony Apartments Tuesday morning. That’s in the 6400 block of Bailey Street, near Prisma Health Richland, by the intersection of Farrow Road and West Beltline Boulevard.

Although the search was in Columbia, the man is wanted on three or four charges from Calhoun County, Calhoun Sheriff Thomas Summers told The State. Summers said the man is wanted for a gun-related crime.

Columbia police identified Harrison Brodrick Brown as the subject of the search, saying he was also wanted on stalking charges.

Brown should be considered armed and dangerous, Columbia police said.

At about 1 p.m., Summers said a deputy on the scene told him they don’t think Brown is at the apartment complex.

Although Brown was not found, the search for him at the Colony Apartments “ended peacefully,” Columbia police said.

Law enforcement will continue to search for Brown, according to Summers.

While the crimes were committed in Calhoun County, Summers said he thinks the man lives in another part of South Carolina. Information on where was not available.

Despite of the nature of the crimes, Columbia police said there was no danger to the public.

Photos from the scene showed officers wearing tactical gear.

Columbia police were part of a multi-agency task force, that also included Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents, and the U.S. Marshals Service. It was not clear if Richland County sheriff’s deputies were involved in the search.

Columbia police said they were involved to provide tactical support to the U.S. Marshals and Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies, as the search for Brown was considered “high risk.”

There was no word when the search began, or if it expanded beyond the apartment complex.

Anyone who has seen Brown, or has information about him, is asked to call 911, or CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
