Lamborghini's Newest One-Offs Send Off Modern V-12Lamborghini

In a few weeks, Lamborghini will unveil the Aventador's successor. While we do not know exactly what shape the long-teased car will take, we do know that it will be a hybrid with a V-12. That means Lamborghini's next era is approaching quickly, so there is no better time to send off the Aventador and all V-12 Lamborghinis without hybrid assistance in grand style.

These are the Auténtica and Invencible, a one-off roadster and a one-off coupe that mark the end of non-electrified V-12 Lamborghini production. Both share their carbon fiber underpinnings with the outgoing Aventador, both are powered by a 770 hp 6.5-liter V-12, and both are all-wheel-drive.

Lamborghini calls these the "very last cars to be produced by Lamborghini equipped with a 12-cylinder 6.5 l engine mounted longitudinally in the rear before the transition to a hybrid era." All those qualifiers add up to one thing: as the last two cars built in the Aventador's footprint, the Auténtica and Invencible are the final two Lamborghini flagship road cars to be built without electrical assistance.

The brand says that both designs reflect the limited-run Sesto Elemento, Reventón, and Veneno. Hexagons are everywhere, most notably highlighted in the rear light assembly and exhaust tips. The extreme shapes fit neatly into Lamborghini's ever-aggressive design language, which only seems to get more angular by the day.

The Invencible coupe is finished in a tone of red called Rosso Efesto highlighted by black carbon accents. Unlike the Auténtica, it has an aggressive rear spoiler more reminiscent of current Lamborghini track cars. The swan-style mounting brackets for that wing, of course, integrate an extra set of hexagons.

The Auténtica roadster is painted in a gray-silver called Grigio Titans, contrasted by bright yellow pinstriping accents. In place of the Invencible's massive rear wing, the Auténtica has a smaller rear wing set between two fins.

With that, this era of Lamborghini is complete. The next V-12 to come out of Sant'Agata Bolognese will be the dawn of the next one, the era of hybrid flagship Lamborghini supercars.
