KU Jayhawks, K-State Wildcats football will meet on this relevant date in 2022 season
The Sunflower Showdown is heading back to rivalry week.
Kansas and Kansas State will finish their football schedules by playing against each other on the final weekend of the 2022 season next November.
The Big 12 released its full conference football schedule on Wednesday, and the annual Sunflower Showdown is slated for Saturday, Nov. 26 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan. It’s the first time the two rivals have played in the season’s last game since 2018, when the Wildcats beat the Jayhawks 21-17 at home.
K-State will prepare for a different end to its conference schedule next season, but the beginning is the same as always. The Wildcats will start Big 12 play on the road against Oklahoma on Sept. 24. That game will mark the fifth straight season that K-State has opened conference play on the road.
The Wildcats will open the year at home against South Dakota on Sept. 3 and play two more nonconference home games against Missouri and Tulane. They will play the Tigers on Sept. 10.
Their open week in 2022 is scheduled for Oct. 15.
A quirk on KU’s schedule: It will open Big 12 play at West Virginia on Sept. 10, which is the earliest league game the Jayhawks have played since the 2002 season.
Game times and TV networks for each contest will be released at a later date.
