KU basketball coach Bill Self narrates Joel Embiid’s commercial for cryptocurrency app

The cryptocurency market is in a downswing and one company has tabbed someone who seen many ups and downs in his life for a commercial: former Kansas star Joel Embiid.

After one season with the Jayhawks, Embiid was drafted with the third overall pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. During his time in Philadelphia, Embiid has dealt with injuries and tough playoff defeats, but he’s also been a three-time All-NBA pick and the Sixers have been in the postseason five straight years after missing it five seasons in a row.

Embiid has embraced one mantra during his time in Philadelphia: Trust The Process.

Crypto.com, a cryptocurrency app, has tweaked that for a new commercial called, “Bravery Is A Process,” that could be about the recent struggles in that financial market.

It shows Embiid walking the streets and at one point he sees a TV screen with a graphic that shows his face and the word: “Peaked?”

The narrator is KU men’s basketball coach Bill Self, and his words in some ways could apply to the national-champion Jayhawks.

“Joel, since Kansas we’ve taken our own path. We’ve never done what everyone else did,” Self says. “We took on the fear, we ignored the doubt. We loved the excitement. We believed.

“Even when our path didn’t make sense to everyone else, we kept going. We keep going until our path is the one they wish they’d taken.”

Here is the commercial.
