Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac are set to team up for new vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods.

According to Deadline, the actors will join forces later this year to play a married couple, with the film being set in Los Angeles during the 1980s.

Stewart (Twilight) will play Alex, while Isaac (Moon Knight) is Raoul, a couple who according to the synopsis "descend each evening from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into an electric night time realm.

“When they cross paths with the mysterious and enigmatic Nameless and her hard-partying cabal, Raoul and Alex are seduced into a glamorous, surrealistic world of hedonism, thrills and violence."

Flesh of the Gods will be directed by Panos Cosmatos, who is known for 2018 horror Mandy, and will be written by Se7en’s Andrew Kevin Walker.

Oscar winner Adam McKay, who has been involved with movies such as Don’t Look Up, Vice and The Big Short, will serve as a producer, alongside Betsy Koch, Gena Konstantinakos and Isaac himself.

In a statement, McKay was full of praise for their film and said: "This director, this writer, these incredible actors, vampires, choice 80’s punk, style and attitude for miles… that’s the film we’re bringing you today. We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful.

"Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music, and film. Can you tell how excited I am?"

Director Cosmatos added: "Like Los Angeles itself Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare. Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell."

Meanwhile, Stewart is currently starring in Love Lies Bleeding, which will be released in UK cinemas tomorrow (May 3).

The actor plays gym manager Lou who falls in love with bodybuilder Jackie (Katy O’Brian), in a film which also stars the likes of Jena Malone, Dave Franco and Ed Harris.

There is not yet a release date for Flesh of the Gods. Love Lies Bleeding is released in UK cinemas on Friday, May 3.
