Kristen Stewart would only do a Marvel movie if Greta Gerwig was involved

She, too, loves "I'm Just Ken."

Wanna see Kristen Stewart in a Marvel movie? Well, she'll consider doing it on one condition: Greta Gerwig has to be involved.

The Love Lies Bleeding star shared her thoughts on the Marvel machine during a recent appearance on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast, saying that while it would be "stupid" to provide a definitive "yes" or "no" answer to whether she would ever suit up for a superhero flick, she “will likely never" do it.

"It sounds like a f---ing nightmare, actually," she quipped.

When host Amanda Hirsch told Stewart she could envision her in the role of Mary Jane Watson from the Spider-Man comics, Stewart replied, "Well, like, I like big movies because I like people to watch them when I'm in them." However, she added, "the system would have to change. Like you'd have to put so much money and so much trust into one person."

"It doesn't happen," she said. "And so therefore, what ends up happening is this, like, algorithmic weird experience where you can't feel personal at all about it. But maybe the world changes..."

She then admitted, "If Greta Gerwig asked me to do a Marvel movie, then I would do it.”

Stewart, who has led both blockbusters and indies, also said she's a "superfan" of Gerwig's smash Barbie, and that Ryan Gosling's performance of "I'm Just Ken" at the 2024 Oscars really moved her.

"I was, for some reason, crying and laughing while watching," she recalled. “It’s emotional, dude, watching Greta watch it. When they did the one cutaway of her and she was just, like, front-row belting and looking at the thing she helped kick-start, I was like, this is too much.”

The summer blockbuster, starring Margot Robbie as one of the titular dolls, picked up eight nominations for this year's Academy Awards, bringing home one for Best Original Song, for Billie Eilish and Finneas' "What Was I Made For?" Meanwhile, Stewart recently picked up her first Oscar nomination for the 2022 ceremony, for her role as Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín's Spencer.
