Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced their divorce after six years together earlier this year, and momager Kris Jenner has been dishing out her best divorce advice for her daughter.

Kim officially filed the divorce petition back in February, with TMZ reporting the reality star asked for joint legal and physical custody of their four kids, North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, one.

This week, Kanye responded to the filing, also requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children. Though neither Kim or Kanye listed a date of separation on the documents, divorce rumours started circulating at the start of the year.

Now, Kris Jenner has spoken out about her daughter's relationship, drawing advice from her own experiences - the 65-year-old separated from Robert Kardashian in 19991, and Caitlyn Jenner in 2015.

"I think the most important thing I learned through my experience [of divorce], both of my experiences, is that the kids come first," Kris told WSJ Magazine's The One.

"If you keep that in the front of your mind and know that they are going to get you through, the love is going to get you through, you know, no matter how much you're hurting. I used to put everybody to bed, and then I would be upset or go to my room and cry myself to sleep."

She added, "But I didn't want to have a pity party in front of the kids." Kris shared four children with Rob Kardashian - Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob as well as two children with Caitlyn Jenner - Kendall and Kylie.

Kim officially filed the divorce papers on February 19, and though she hasn't addressed the split since then, her marriage troubles with Kanye do take centre stage in the new Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
