Securitas tops Q4 core profit expectations driven by European business
The group, one of the world's largest security services providers, said its quarterly operating earnings before amortisation (EBITA) rose to 3.04 billion Swedish crowns ($278.5 million) from 2.68 billion crowns a year earlier. Securitas said it was on track with its strategic plan and remained committed to its operating margin target of 8% by the end of 2025. The acquisition of Stanley Security, which Securitas closed in 2022, added technology solutions exposure to its staff-intensive offering, but also loaded it with significant debt that it has been seeking to reduce in recent quarters.

China's U.S. ethane imports to surge in 2025 in drive to cut costs
Despite a growing trade war between Washington and Beijing, China's ethane imports from the U.S. are set to surge this year as big petrochemical producers battling shrinking profits switch to the cheaper feedstock flowing from the U.S. shale gas boom. Companies including Satellite Chemical, China Sanjiang Fine Chemical, and Wanhua Chemical Group are investing more than $16 billion to build crackers, upgrade plants, expand storage, and construct Very Large Ethane Carriers to ship the liquefied gas. U.S. export capacity and a lack of tankers are the two factors holding back growth in the ethane trade between the world's two biggest economies.
