Less than five months after buying his striking Las Vegas Valley mansion, Kiss frontman Gene Simmons has listed it for sale – for £2.9 million more than he reportedly paid for it.

The 72-year-old rock star spent just less than £6 million on the two-storey, six-bedroom home in Henderson in May, plus an additional £1.8 million for an adjacent, vacant plot of land that would offer extra privacy.

Now, just five months later, the Southern Nevada estate is for sale for £10.8 million after the musician told Las Vegas’ Review Journal that he had wanted to move his family to Henderson but that they had struggled with the intense heat. Kiss are currently on their End of the Road world tour which is due to finish in July next year.

Simmons is no stranger to buying and selling luxury mansions. Earlier this year the Beverly Hills estate he owned for 40 years was sold for £11.6 million – after being listed at prices of £15.9 million then £18 million in a reverse of traditional selling tactics – and a four-bedroom Hollywood Hills home was sold for £1.45 million in February.

The Las Vegas Valley home now for sale has “desert-friendly artificial turf” and “disappearing glass walls” according to the listing with agents Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

A floating path over a Koi carp pond leads to a modernist eight-bedroom mansion and adjoining 11-car garage.

The interiors feature much natural stone and unfinished concrete framed by floor-to-ceiling glass walls, while double and triple-height living areas lead to an infinity pool with views of the Las Vegas skyline.

The star told Architectural Digest last year that he planned to leave California – where his longtime home was - because of the state’s high tax rates.

"I am moving our family to a state that is much more welcoming. Washington state. Where there is no income tax, no local and state taxes. Federal taxes are enough," he told the publication.

Simmons’ wife model-actor Shannon Tweed Simmons bought a Malibu hilltop home earlier this year for £4.2 million. The couple also have a 12,000sq ft Lake Tahoe mansion set in four acres.
