Yahoo Movies Kim Kardashian Is Being ‘Sued’ Over An Adorable Photograph With Kanye West
Kim Kardashian has courted much controversy in recent years, whether it be for advertising diet lollipops or being accused of cultural insensitivity for her SKIMS shapewear line, which was originally named Kimono.
It appears that the 39-year-old business mogul is now caught up in another public drama, this time concerning a photograph taken with Kanye West.
E! News reports that photographer Saeed Bolden is suing the beauty brand founder for posting an image on Instagram that he took. Bolden claims that he snapped the image in June 2018 during a listening party for Nas’ new album Nasir and that Kardashian did not receive his permission to share the image.
Kardashian shared the black-and-white snap, which sees the mother-of-four and her husband smiling as they walk together among a crowd of people, on her Instagram page in October 2018.
The post has since received more than 2.2 million ‘likes.’
The lawsuit was reportedly filed in a New York federal court on Wednesday 22 January. Kardashian’s representatives are yet to comment on the reported lawsuit.
Saeed is believed to have claimed in his filing that Kardashian ‘did not license the photograph’ from him to use on her social media platform nor the ‘permission or consent to publish the photograph’. As a result, he believes that she has ‘infringed his copyright in the photograph by reproducing and publicly displaying it’.
The news outlet reports that Saeed ‘did not assign a monetary value in his lawsuit’ and is demanding a jury trial.
The news comes amid photo agency Shutterstock’s public call out of Lady Gaga.
On Thursday January 23, the agency sent a message to Gaga after the singer used watermarked images from its website to react to news that her latest song ‘Stupid Love’ has been leaked prior to release.
‘Can y’all stop,’ Gaga wrote on Twitter, along with photos of a girl listening to her music while wearing a ski mask.

Over the years, several celebrities have had lawsuits filed against them for using images on their social media accounts that photographers claim have been done so illegally.
In September 2019, E! News reported that photographer Robert O’Neil filed a lawsuit against model Gigi Hadid for ‘unauthorised reproduction and public display’ of a photo of her on/off boyfriend Zayn Malik. The photographer also reportedly sued model Emily Ratajkowski for sharing one of his images without permission, according to court documents obtained by the publication.
In October 2018, Hadid addressed another copyright infringement case on Instagram.

In her post, she explained that she found the photograph in question on Twitter, without a photographer credit but that she and would have been ‘happy to tag and give credit’ to the person, if they had messaged her.
‘To the paparazzi, I understand that this is how you make your living, and I respect that this is something I must accept with my job,’ she wrote. ‘But there is a line.’
