He has kids; he has friends. Heath prepares for Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory gauntlet

Heath will compete in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet match during Impact Wrestling’s Bound for Glory PPV on Friday via FITE TV from the Washington Avenue Armory in Albany, New York The winner of the 20-person gauntlet match earns a future shot at any Impact title at any time, anywhere.

Bound for Glory is Impact Wrestling’s biggest show of the year.

Heath reunited in 2020 with his good friend Rhino at Impact Wrestling, which is under the leadership of Scott D’Amore. A longtime WWE talent, he was part of 3MB (with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal) and The Nexus (Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, Skip Sheffield, Darren Young, Michael Tarver, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga and Heath Slater).

Here is my video interview with Impact Wrestling’s Heath, a WWE alum who has kids. He was trained by Curtis Hughes (Mr. Hughes) at WWA4, Jody Hamilton (The Masked Assassin) at Deep South and Steve Keirn (The Fabulous Ones, Skinner) at FCW and wrestled soon-to-be Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer Raven on the indies.

Like Impact Wrestling, Heath is a survivor of the pro wrestling business. Impact Wrestling is in its 20th year, starting in 2002 as TNA Wrestling.

Debuting in 2004 for WWA4, Heath worked for WWE from 2006 to 2020. That’s longer than most. He was a WWE tag team champ with Justin Gabirel, the first WWE SmackDown tag team champ with Rhino and a WWE 24-7 champ. Prior, he was an FCW champ, FCW Southern Heavyweight champ and an FCW tag team champ with Joe Hennig. He was ranked No. 66 of the top 500 singles wrestlers in the PWI 500 in 2011.

Heath was one of the main cast members of “The JBL and Renee Show” from 2013 to 2015 on WWE.com, where he played “Big” Clem Layfield, a story line nephew of John “Bradshaw” Layfield.

His funny WWE catchphrase “I Got Kids” was not scripted. It just happened, and it stuck, resulting in his first WWE T-shirt.

Originally from Pineville, West Virginia, the 39-year-old wrestler also works the indies. He attended and excelled in sports at Wyoming East High School and attended Potomac State College in Keyser, West Virginia, before transitioning from the classroom to the wrestling ring.

Living in Fort Mill, South Carolina, he and his wife Stephanie Jean have two kids, age 8 and 10. Heath said his daughter is a carbon copy of him, and he could see her wrestling professionally someday.

About Bound for Glory

The main event for BOUND FOR GLORY is set. Josh Alexander will defend the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship in a one-on-one showdown against two-time former World Champion and new No.1 contender Eddie Edwards.

The World Championship main event headlines IMPACT Wrestling’s showcase pay-per-view event of its historic 20th anniversary year. BOUND FOR GLORY occurs in Albany, New York on Friday, Oct. 7 (8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT).

Tickets to BOUND FOR GLORY at the Washington Avenue Armory are on sale here.

Edwards cemented his status at the top contender to Alexander’s World Championship by winning a six-way showdown on last night’s edition of IMPACT!. The leader of the cult-like Honor No More faction has reigned as TNA/IMPACT World Champion twice before, pinning Bobby Lashley in 2016 and most recently winning the then-vacated title at Slammiversary 2020.

IMPACT Wrestling Executive Vice-President Scott D’Amore said in a release: “Fans should get ready for one of the most exciting matches in BOUND FOR GLORY history. I’ll say it again – Josh Alexander is the greatest wrestler in the world right now. His performances since reaching World Title level at last year’s BOUND FOR GLORY have been incredible – and he’ll need to deliver again in Albany.”

D’Amore added: “Eddie Edwards is having one of the best years of his great career. He’s arguably better than ever as the leader of Honor No More, and while I don’t necessarily enjoy dealing with Honor No More on a personal level, it is impossible not to recognize what Edwards has done in the ring in 2022. I expect a classic main event from these two come October 7th.”

Every IMPACT championship will be defended as part of what promises to be an instant classic BOUND FOR GLORY event. The full card will be announced in the coming weeks and don’t miss an episode of IMPACT! every Thursday on AXS TV in the US and internationally as part of IMPACT Insider’s Membership YouTube.

Heath is part of the Impact Wrestling Bound for Glory Call Your Shot Gauntlet match on Oct. 7 via FITE TV.
